Jasmin maintains a regulatory and litigation practice primarily focused on labor and employment law. She provides advice and counsel to clients on compliance with state and federal employment laws, including termination and on-boarding issues. She also represents businesses in a broad range of disputes, including discrimination, harassment, wrongful termination, wage and hour, and trade secret matters. Her experience further includes defending companies in wage and hour class actions against meal and rest break, overtime, and timely payment of wage claims, including extensive experience with PAGA cases in both litigation and arbitration. Jasmin has obtained a dismissal of class claims in arbitration, drafted briefs for cases at the California Court of Appeal and successfully brought a motion to dismiss the appeal. Jasmin also has significant experience drafting and revising handbooks, pay plans, break and leave policies, employee surveys and confidentiality agreements.
Prior to joining Scali Rasmussen, Jasmin facilitated all stages of pre-trial litigation in employment discrimination and harassment cases, including drafting key motions as a Fellow at the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. During law school, she clerked at various Southern California and national law firms. Jasmin has worked on cases in both state and federal court in the areas of consumer protection, premises liability, contract disputes, employment discrimination, and intellectual property.
While earning her Juris Doctor degree at the University of Southern California (USC) Gould School of Law, she counseled start-up companies at the Small Business Clinic and was a member of the Southern California Law Review. Jasmin is fluent in Hindi and Punjabi and speaks conversational Spanish. In her personal time, she enjoys spending time outdoors—hiking and kayaking, and volunteering to promote literacy and love of learning amongst children at Los Angeles public schools. At work, Jasmin is keenly focused on using early resolution and mediation to achieve favorable settlements for her clients, when appropriate. Additionally, she provides sexual harassment and workplace bullying prevention training for firm clients. She is an extremely valuable member of our Employment and Litigation practice teams.
